FEW CASES THAT CAME TO LIGHT

A 21-yr-old tribal girl from Manipur sexually assaulted by tenant. The landlord forced victim’s cousin & other students to vacate the rooms without any notice. Police delayed Registering Complaint.

Two North East Sisters Molested by 25 Men. Police Refused to Lodge Complaint

A 21-year-old call centre employee protesting a molestation attempt was stabbed several times by some unidentified youths at a bus stop in West Delhi .

Sherlin Yanthan can still feel the knotty middle-aged fingers creeping up her thighs. But what the young girl from Nagaland remembers clearer still are the cold stares of her co-passengers on that crowded Delhi bus.

A minor girl (17) who is doing a designing course was molested repeatedly by her landlord in Gurgaon, Haryana. The house owner threw out the girl along with he sister and cousin from the house without any reason at midnight.

Hundreds of incidents remain unreported, very, very few cases come out and fewer still (minicule) receive the justice that they deserve.

According to the North East Support Centre & Helpline (NESC&H) Report – 2009 reveals an alarming increase in crime against north east communities in Delhi and NCR. A Study reveals that 86% of North East people living in Delhi and NCR face some form or the other of racial discrimination.

In the light of the above, the Vaiphei Christian Fellowship ( Delhi ) is organizing a Seminar to focus on these problems.

BRIEF PROFILES OF RESOURCE PERSONS

Rev Madhu Chandra is a research scholar, human rights activist and missionary based at New Delhi , working as Public Relation Officer of All India Christian Council, Founder and Spokes Person of North East Support Centre & Helpline and National Secretary of All India Confederation of SC/ST Organisations.

Advocate Lansinglu Rongmei is a lawyer and human rights activist based at New Delhi , working as Legal Secretary of All India Christian Council, President of North East Support Centre & Helpline.
